New year, new adventures…

To quote Ferris Bueller, “"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

Here we are at the end of another year. I can honestly say, this year has been a doozy. When I officially closed the store October 31, I had no idea what I’d be doing next. It’s still not clear, but I see glimmers of a new adventure.

I’ll be turning 60 in 2026. It is really hard to believe although my body likes to remind me occasionally. Mentally, I feel like I’m in my 30s. I’ve always vowed I’d stay young at heart. I think, for the most part, I have. I try to keep up with technology, fashion, pop culture. Politics has aged me, so that is where I’ve learned to moderate my intake. All in all, I feel like I’m finally coming into my own. Younger people, that means age doesn’t have to predict your attitude or life choices. For people my age and older, age doesn’t have to predict our attitudes or life choices.

This year has been a great year of growth for me. I’ve learned many things, but particularly:

  • the end of something isn’t failure

  • we are our own advocates for our health (especially women when it comes to perimenopause and menipause)

  • women talking to women is powerful

  • no one cares (in that everyone is in their own heads/world)

  • it’s never too late to make/meet new friends

  • friendships have no age limits

  • 6, 7 (it’s okay to entertain yourself)

I wish you a very happy celebration of festivities no matter how you may or may not celebrate. Here’s to 2026!
