My favorite holiday…

I love Halloween. Back when my kids were younger, I went all out decorating our house. I had a fog machine, cemetery, haunted soundtrack, and even created a haunted parlor in our driveway on trick-or-treat night (offering hot toddies and treats for the parents). We lived in a colonial style home that was suited quite nicely for all the decorations.

Sadly, no one trick-or-treats in our current neighborhood because the houses are spread too far apart and sit too far back from the road. I did decorate for the first few years, but slowly gave up. The picture above was one of the last times we decorated before out tombstones blew away. Funny to think that someone found these in their yard unexpectedly that year.

*LCDmodern tip: place silhouettes of anything (tombstone, cat, witches, etc.) in front of an empty wall and add a spotlight in front of them. The shadows (like above) will cast on the wall and add extra creepy vibes to your home’s decor. Big impact/little effort! You can easily buy metal silhouettes online or make your own from plywood or corrugated plastic.

In the coming weeks, I’ll share some of the easy projects and decorations I used to do with the kids. If you try any of them, I hope you’ll share them with me.

Jess and I began decorating the store with a black Halloween tree filled with spooky ornaments (all available for purchase). Do you decorate for Halloween?

Happy haunting!

Back in stock!

Our popular giant retro masks are back in-store. Reminiscent of masks we used to wear in the late ‘70s, these masks will grab everyone’s attention. Gen Xers will particularly appreciate them.
